To add the file type, type the extension in the “Add New Extension to List” box and then click the “Add” button. If you don’t find file type you’re looking for on the list, it means no app is set as the default handler for that file type. In our example, we’re selecting the BAT extension, so the filter type changes to “Plain Text Filter.” Search with the keyword NEAR, rather than AND, for words close to each other. A list of matching words displays in the Navigation pane and instances of the word are highlighted in. In the Navigation pane, enter the text you want to search for. In older versions of Microsoft Word, select File > File Search. Select the extension for the file type you would like to include in content searches, and then select the “Index Properties and File Contents” option under the list. The text in the “Filter Description” column should change to reflect whatever filter is used to open that file type by default. To run a basic search for a specific word or phrase in Word: Go to the Home tab and select Find, or press Ctrl + F. In the “Advanced Options” window, switch to the “File Types” tab. Now, click the 'Search' icon in the left vertical bar. To open a PDF file, click the 'Open files' button on the Home window. In the “Indexing Options” window, click the “Advanced” button. Launch PDFelement and open the desired PDF file that contains the words or phrases you are looking for. Once you’re done with the above setting, perform a test search. Select Always search file names and contents only under What to search and then click OK. Click the Search tab in the Folder Options window. When the Find window opens, follow these steps and refer to Figure 1 below: Click the gear icon on the right side of the box. To display the search/find window pane, use 'Ctrl+F'. Open Folder Options from the Control Panel. When a PDF is opened in the Acrobat Reader (not in a browser), the search window pane may or may not be displayed.
